About the TransAlpine Chapter
The Society for Technical Communication (STC) is the world’s largest organization for professionals working in the widespread area of technical communication: technical writers, illustrators, indexers, online help developers, trainers, technical marketeers, etc. STC has 20.000 members, divided over 150 local chapters.
The STC TransAlpine Chapter (TAC) covers five countries in Middle Europe, but we also have members from outside of these geographical boundaries. Members develop information products in a variety of European languages, including English.
Our Local Interest Groups serve members in particular regions with short informal meetings and provide useful networking opportunities on a local level.

Workshop and Conference
Our regular conferences offer members and non-members the chance to come together to network, learn new skills, and improve their knowledge. We’re looking forward to the TransAlpine chapter’s ten-year anniversary conference in spring 2009.
Our mission is:
- To provide opportunity to exchange information regarding international, cross-cultural experiences in technical communication
- To support TransAlpine constituents in promoting the technical communication profession in countries where the profession is not widely recognized
- To offer educational activities that encourage and support the professional growth of TAC
